Butterfly Tree
The genus Buddleja consists of approximately 100 species, belonging to the botanical family Asteraceae.
Also called summer lilac, butterfly bush, or orange eye, it is a species of flowering plant in the Scrophulariaceae family, native to the Sichuan and Hubei provinces in central China, as well as Japan.
It is native to western Asia, where it is considered an endemic plant, as well as North Africa and North America.
One of the most famous types of buddleja shrubs is called Father David's buddleja (Buddleja davidii).
Due to excessive hybridization, this species has been divided into more than 100 varieties, making it the most widespread of all its species. It is a widespread evergreen shrub, generally ranging in height from two to five meters, although a few species are considered trees rather than shrubs, reaching 30 meters. There are also climbing species, and others are dwarf, reaching no more than 50 centimeters in height and are grown in containers. It blooms in early summer.
