The Directorate of Agriculture in Damascus and Rural Damascus, in cooperation and partnership with the Chamber of Agriculture in Damascus and Rural Damascus, launched the activities of the Food and Handicraft Exhibition for Rural Women. The event was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture as part of ongoing efforts to empower rural women economically and socially, aiming to provide direct marketing channels for their products.The opening ceremony witnessed a distinguished official presence, including Dr. Zaid Abu Assaf, Director of Agriculture for Damascus and Rural Damascus; Mr. Haroun Al-Khattab, Chairman of the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Agriculture; Mr. Mohammad Jannan, Chairman of the Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Agriculture; and Dr. Rabie Al-Hassan, Director of Extension and Rural Development at the Ministry of Agriculture. They were joined by the staff of the Directorate’s Extension and Rural Development Department, who provide technical and promotional support to the producing women.The attendees conducted a comprehensive tour of the exhibition pavilions, where they viewed a wide range of homemade food provisions (mouna) and heritage handicrafts manufactured to the highest quality standards. They praised the efficiency of rural women and their ability to support the local economy of their families and communities.The exhibition opens its doors at the headquarters of the Damascus and Rural Damascus Chamber of Agriculture starting today, Tuesday, July 14, until Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
