Workers in the agricultural sector stressed that naming the members of the new Syrian People's Assembly, including the members of the complementary third, represents an important step toward supporting development and reconstruction efforts. This is achieved through developing and updating the legislative system to contribute to enhancing agricultural production, stimulating investment, and consolidating food security to meet the requirements of the next phase and support the sustainable development path. The Head of the Agricultural Engineers Syndicate, Mustafa Al-Mustafa, explained that the new assembly is expected to express the aspirations and needs of citizens. It should play an active legislative and oversight role by enacting laws that support agricultural and industrial production, encourage investment, protect farmers' rights, and activate the role of syndicates and oversight bodies. The President of the Damascus and Countryside Chamber of Agriculture, Mohammad Jannan, stressed the importance of developing rules and laws in line with the new Syrian vision. This will provide an attractive legislative environment for investment and support agricultural, urban, and economic development. The Director of Public Relations at the General Union of Farmers, Bassam Al-Hussein, believes that some laws governing the agricultural and investment sectors need review and development. This is necessary to keep pace with economic and technical developments and remove obstacles hindering production and investment, expressing his optimism that the new assembly will undertake this task. For his part, farmer Firas Daaboul from Damascus Countryside expressed his hope that the new assembly will resolve the problems facing the agricultural sector in the governorate, particularly the depletion of water resources, which impacts and causes a decline in agricultural activity
